Start Small

When I was younger I heard this interesting quote: “A butterfly flaps its wings in Africa, and causes a hurricane in Louisiana”. Growing up, I never bought this Butterfly Effect because it sounded impossible (quite frankly, like bullshit).

But it is. Whether it’s gaining an early advantage in a race or studying for thirty minutes more a day, seemingly minuscule efforts really do end up paying off. High school showed me that the most; the classmate that I dismissed as unintelligent ends up understanding more of a course than me. Why? Because while I was playing video games and wasting my time, he/she studied and did work. While each day’s improvements were small, over time it added up to something amazing.

It’s both enlightening and sombering, thinking about how much I could have done with my time. But it’s also motivating, as I know that I can do the same.

Note to self: Stop being a sloth at home, and start busting my ass to do something worthwhile.
